Old Wives Tale of the Week # 1
Eating Carrots helps you see in the dark?

Err, no they don't. Though delicious, versatile and healthy (full of Vitamin A) eating carrots does not actually make you see better let alone better in the dark. This old wives tale's beginnings was during World War 2. A rumour started by the brits to account for their new radar technology results.
Also a tried and tested way to encourage children to eat a vegetable though with mixed results. (Most of us would've heard a child at one time or another say, "But I don't wanna see in the dark," or something similar to try and weasel their way out of vegie's.)
